Ousted from Spokane Arena by the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the boys are practicing at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
In addition to being locked out of the Arena, the Chiefs have played their last four games on the road. And they have even more road games ahead of them. They play Tri-City, Everett, Kamloops and Chilliwack before returning to home ice on Jan. 29 against Seattle.
Doesn't sound like a lot of fun, right? Leave it to coach Hardy Sauter to remain the optimist.
" I think it's good for them to have to change venues and sites and practice areas. We never want our guys to feel comfortable or entitled to anything."
"In a way it's kind of fun, I guess – to change it up a little bit," added defenseman Brett Bartman. "It's nice that the facility here is beautiful. They have a great room for us and it just kind of makes it fun, I guess."
The last time the Chiefs played a game at home was Jan. 9 against the Americans. After beating Tri-City they went 1-1-2 on the road in games against Everett, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge and Kootenay.
